How was your experience with Shona Murray?
Dr. Murray was curt and unsympathetic at times. Did not communicate with the staff about my treatment and was frustrated with me for their mistakes. She did not perform any of the big parts of my transfer. At my final appointment she made incredibly rude comments about my fertility moving forward and the future of our family. She also made very negative assumptions about my condition that were not backed up by any tests whatsoever.
What one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Shona Murray?
Be your own advocate and speak up. Don't trust them to communicate well and ask questions about your care. She would not be the doctor I would choose to see in this practice. Always ask them to test first before they make assumptions about your care. If there is a change in drugs, make sure that all staff are on the same page and that you are not prescribed wrong medications.
During treatment, did you feel like you were treated like a number or a human?
Many mistakes were made, no sympathy or concern. Communication about treatment was extremely poor. Appointments were very brief and comments were made about adoption that were extremely insensitive to our situation.
Describe the protocols Shona Murray used in your cycles and their degree of success.
We used birth control, estrogen patches and vaginal progesterone. We used ultrasounds to check lining and a stitch was put in my cervix for the transfer.
Describe your experience with your nurse.
Many communication issues, messed up medications, forgot to send schedules, sent wrong dates on schedules and failed to follow up. I had to call numerous times in a 3 month period to clear up mistakes, to get correct dates, to handle medication that was given in error and to clarify and follow up on misdirection of my care.
Describe your experience with Advanced Reproductive Medicine (U of CO).
The receptionist is extremely unfriendly and can be rude when asked questions. The nursing staff seems uninformed and made several mistakes in my time there. I had to follow up on things they told me they would take care of and everything seemed disorganized. No one assisted us with understanding the financial pieces and discussing insurance. We were made to feel that using our insurance was wrong and a pain for them. We were also given different pricing by different people, charged for procedures that never took place and got attitude for trying to clarify financial or insurance questions.
