Describe your experience with New Direction Fertility Centers.
The only thing I would have changed would be the front desk communication. But! They have new staff and I haven't had any complaints from my last few phone calls with them so I think they have fixed the issue.
Other than that, their strengths highly outway any downfall. They ar skins and welcoming at every appointment, organized, on time more often than not, thorough, beautiful and clean clinic, and I feel I'm in great hands while in their care.
During treatment, did you feel like you were treated like a number or a human?
His bedside manner is incredible. Even when I wasn't responding as quickly as I would have liked, I left that appointment feeling encouraged and positive. He has a way of turning set backs in to motivation. He is sure we are informed but never made us feel discouraged.
Describe your experience with your nurse.
My IVF coordinator was amazing. She was prompt in answering all of my emails, returned my phone calls in a timely manner, and explained everything in detail.
I never felt rushed or like I was inconveniencing her with my millions of questions.
How was your experience with Mark Amols?
I honestly have zero complaints about Dr. Amols. He made my husband and I feel extremely comfortable from our first consultation. We were full of nerves and worries but we left feeling excited and encouraged for the first time in years.
You see him at every appointment. He does not use an ultrasound tech so he monitors every appointment. I appreciate this because I never have to wonder if he received full details of my appointment. He sees it first hands and makes adjustments to the protocol as he sees fit. Literally. I've never trusted a doctor as much as him and that is thanks to his hands on work ethic.
I've never felt like a number. He gets to know you personally. He remembers my husbands football teams and talks to him about it. This made my husband feel at ease. He finds a way to make a connection with both of you. He remembers we travel to see him from out of town and asks about our drive. You feel like family there.
I appreciate his honest opinion while still being gentle in his approach. He and his wife had children through IVF. He understands the financial, emotions, and physical struggle of infertility.
I've recommended him to countless people and have never heard a complaint from any of them.
What one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Mark Amols?
Dr. Amols gets results. He loves his patients and loves seeing them. But his goal is to help you start a family and move to the next chapter of your life.
So, once you start treatments, buckle up because he's ready to get you through these treatments to hit your goal of parenthood. Be ready for lots of appointments.
It's a great thing. Be excited!
Describe the protocols Mark Amols used in your cycles and their degree of success.
We started with the plan for oral medication (Femara), trigger, and IUI.
My body responded to the first round of Femara but not as much as we needed it to. My follicles were not mature. He adjusted the plan and gave me a second round of Femara. That did the trick and a week later I had 3 mature follicles.
We triggered and had our IUI 2 days later.
Unfortunately, my husband had a low sperm count the day of IUI. It did not result in a pregnancy.
We regrouped and have decided to move on to IVF.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Mark Amols.
IUI- $500 (not including medications)
IVF- $4800 (not including medications)
